Sometimes I do feel a little bit isolated in my position right now, academically speaking. Feel like an outcast in my own surroundings. And I feel ’jealous’ seeing my colleagues participate in events that I also have an interest in, I regret that I never made the time to pursue it. But then again, as I look around me, I realize that I’ve been granted with so many things that most people can only dream of. There are things that I regret I did and didn’t do. It’s a pity, yes. But I’ve said this before: ‘life is too short to only think about what should have been’. I should focus more on what I could do to make myself better and less on things I would spent my time on useless daydreamings. I made this post to remind myself every now and then that I have to look forward. Everybody has regrets and makes mistakes, but it doesn’t mean they have to suffer forever because of it. We learn from what we do, the right things and the wrong ones. Our past may define who we are today but remember that who we are today also defines our future. So live at the moment, cherish what you have, learn things as much as you can. It’s okay to be disappointed, feel regret or even guilty. But don’t let them consume you, make them as lessons that you’ve learned. Last but not least, don’t ever forget that you are not alone. Talk, tweet, text, socialize. Whatever it is, I’m sure there is always a person who listens.
